Short but great week!  Getting back into the swing of things after spring break.   I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and let's wish for warm weather next week.  Monday-We sorted pompoms by color and separated them with tweezers.  This is a great fine motor exercise and the kids did great!  We graphed names from our daily question of -Do you like cheese pizza or pepperoni?  The majority liked cheese with two liking both.  We talked about bugs and had a science center to explore real bugs and observe them with a magnifying glass. Wednesday-We made bug fingerprints, talked about spiders and insects, learned that spiders have 8 legs and other bugs have 6.  The kids traced their names and wrote their name once themselves(they are getting very good at writing their names!), had library, indoor recess and ended our day with an Easter Egg Hunt.  They had a great time and thank you for bringing all the eggs!! Next week we will be talking about the letters Z and S.

We had an exciting week! Monday -We mixed yellow and blue to make our color of the month-GREEN!  The coolest part about this was watching them come up with different shades of green based on the amount of paint of each color given.  They were so proud of their different shades.  We had light green, puke green, dark green and a yellowish green.  We then painted our Octagon and discussed the sides of the shape and why it was called an octagon. We read the O book. Wednesday- We are continuing rhyming words and rhyming recognition.   We read,  There's a Wocket In My Pocket   to reinforce rhyme.   We colored kites with our wind(our mouths and a straw) and watercolors to talk about Spring and weather.  We also made an octopus out of toilet paper rolls.  The kids thought it was hilarious that they were painting toilet paper rolls but loved the end result. We talked about compound words and discussed how we can put together 2 words to make one.  They were really quite good at coming

Monday-We reviewed the letter E with the E Book, finished our Leprechaun hats for Read and Romp, and learned about the parts of a book(front, back, spine, words, pictures, author, illustrator, etc).  We discussed that we can read a book just by looking at pictures and telling a story before we know how to read.  The kiddos practiced "reading" to each other.  Wednesday-We had a special morning at the Pike's Peak Inflatable with an extra P.E. time.  That was so much fun!!!  We reviewed the letter F with the F Book and  One Fish-Two Fish-Red Fish-Blue Fish , made fish bowls, talked about rhyming words, and introduced graphs and sorting for math.
