End of Year Post 2018

I don't even know where to begin.  You are all amazing parents!  Thank you for your hugs and gifts and the love you have given to me this year!  Your children are wonderful, kind, smart and loving.  Our subjects covered a broad span as I was trying to focus on each child and their love. We covered dinosaurs, princesses, unicorns, science experiments, reading, graphing, singing, dancing, painting, drawing, running, skipping, playdohing(my made up word), building, making, bird watching, butterfly egg hatching, frog life cycles, appreciating our parents, sharing, planting, having pet hospitals and doctor offices, learning terminology about magnets attracting and repelling, math, science, history, literacy, forming letters, forming numbers, forming shapes, rhyming, adding and subtracting, nursery rhymes, flannel stories, and so much more.  Anything I taught them, they were eager and ready to learn.  Some of your kiddos may have given you in depth stories about our days together and s

Week Ending May 18, 2018

I can't believe it is almost our last week of school! Monday-We talked about our 5 senses, learned about our letter U with our U book, celebrated Laela's birthday and used watercolors to make a unicorn and the letter U and read Knufflebunny . Wednesday-We practiced writing our names, used our 5 senses to blow bubbles in the rain, learned about sink and float with experiments, celebrated Theo's birthday, read Dinosaurs Love Underpants and decorated underpants on paper. Friday-We talked about the #9, counted and ripped 9 pieces of paper for our sheet, made the 5 senses book, celebrated Jane's birthday and fed our inflatable mouth with review letters, numbers, shapes and colors with an "u"nderhand throw. Week Ending May 11, 2018

The weather has been so beautiful this week! Monday-We read our P book, talked about "P"airs and played a Pair game with our "P"ath game boards.  They are excited to bring them home and play with you. We had a "P"izza "P"arlour where they could make "P"retend "P"izzas.  Pajama day was a blast!  We also made "P"inwheels!! Wednesday-We practiced our letter P and the sound it makes as well as painted the letter P with our dotters.  We had reading buddies and gave them bookmarks we made for them.  We also talked about Prepositions with our literacy In The Kitchen program.    We also made "P"ig paper bag puppets as well as "p"opcorn syllable clapping. Week Ending May 4, 2018

We had an amazing week! Monday-We read the M book, learned the Macarena, talked about Moods and Emotions, talked about prepositions and used our Mood bear emotions. Wednesday-We read If You Give a Moose a Muffin , made mad and happy faces, learned the letter M with our Handwriting Without Tears, counted and used our numbers 8 and 9 with our math activities, talked about mixing colors and talked about Miss Mary Mack. Friday-We had our Kentucky Derby.  We had a lot of emotions after the race.  Congrats to Thomas for winning our Kentucky Derby.  Many kids were upset that they didn't win.  This was the perfect opportunity for us to discuss winning and losing, about being a good sport and giving congratulations to the winner although it was hard.  Much learning went on and I feel they all did an amazing job after our classroom discussion.  Losing in the future will be much easier and winning will be a bonus!  :)  We read our N book and talked about the letter N, made Me Posters, and

Week Ending April 27, 2018

So thankful for warmer weather! Monday-We read our K book, made K azoos and talked about vibration and sound waves, released our 4 butterflies for Earth Day Celebration(one is still a caterpillar),  and had  k ite counting math.  Wednesday-We made things with our yellow playdough, counted seeds and learned about different sizes of seed and what seeds need in order to grow into plants, we planted vegetable seeds and will be observing their growth, went in the MPR for recess and read If You Give a Cat a Cupcake. Friday-We learned about k eyboards and how to type our names on them, read the book Tops and Bottoms teaching us about vegetables that grow underground and above the ground, looked at k aleidoscopes and talked about mirrors, planted flowers on our playground and finally finished our Mom's Day surprise. Upcoming events... May 4-Kentucky Derby in P.E. May 11-No A.M. class but arrive at 1:00pm for Mom's Day and ends  at  2:30pm Have a wonderful weekend! L

Week Ending April 20,2018

What a great busy week! Monday-We started with tracing the oval shape and writing our names.  The kids are getting super good at writing their names! I'm so proud of them!  We had P.E. and Music and recess.  We also practiced our H with "H"andwriting Without Tears, learned a tap song with the H wooden sticks, learned the "H"okey Pokey, learned our left and our right hands, read our H Book and talked about different vs. same with the "h"orse worksheet. Wednesday-We cut out horses and put them in order from smallest to largest, used our syllables to clap our first and last names, talked about long words and short words, read If You Give a Pig a Pancake , played "H"ungry "H"ungry "H"ippo and "H"i "H'o Cherry-O. We also got to see the Kindergartners practice for their upcoming performance in the "H"igh School.  Friday-We played in our "h"ospital, practiced writing out letter H, lear

Week Ending April 13, 2018

Spring is finally here!  Monday-We talked about the Life Cycle of a Frog, read the letter T book, used paint dotters to count to the number 8, and did sequencing work as well as patterns. Wednesday-We made self portraits, learned a  raindrop song, had reading buddies, learned how to write our letter T and made a special Mother's Day surprise.  We also played the- "I Have"- alphabet game.  Ms. Blasi was in the classroom for 30 minutes this morning so I could leave and visit the Pre-K classrooms to observe what the kiddos will be doing next year.   :) Friday-We made frog headbands, practiced writing our names, learned about our letter X, finished the Mother's Day surprise,  read the letter X book, read-  If You Give a Dog a Donut &  cut out the matching game.  The kids were super excited to take the game home and play with their siblings and parents.  :) Have a wonderful cold weekend.
