We had an exciting week!
Monday-We mixed yellow and blue to make our color of the month-GREEN!  The coolest part about this was watching them come up with different shades of green based on the amount of paint of each color given.  They were so proud of their different shades.  We had light green, puke green, dark green and a yellowish green.  We then painted our Octagon and discussed the sides of the shape and why it was called an octagon. We read the O book.

Wednesday- We are continuing rhyming words and rhyming recognition.  We read, There's a Wocket In My Pocket  to reinforce rhyme.  We colored kites with our wind(our mouths and a straw) and watercolors to talk about Spring and weather.  We also made an octopus out of toilet paper rolls.  The kids thought it was hilarious that they were painting toilet paper rolls but loved the end result. We talked about compound words and discussed how we can put together 2 words to make one.  They were really quite good at coming up with some of the words.

Friday-We used finished cutting out our kites and hung some out in the hallway, talked about hibernation and migration, read The Bear Wants More, and sorted different color cotton ball berries in a muffin tin with tweezers(great fine motor practice).  We also practiced writing our names and played a game of duck-duck-goose.

Next week we will have Read and Romp all day Monday.
Next Wednesday we will have our Leprechaun traps turned it.  Please don't worry if it is all done up and perfect.  Really just use household items like boxes and tape to come up with something fun.  This project was meant to be a little fun that you guys can experience together with great discussion with your kids and fun planning the trap.
Letter of the week is Q.
Have a great weekend!!!
