End of Year Post 2018

I don't even know where to begin.  You are all amazing parents!  Thank you for your hugs and gifts and the love you have given to me this year!  Your children are wonderful, kind, smart and loving. 

Our subjects covered a broad span as I was trying to focus on each child and their love. We covered dinosaurs, princesses, unicorns, science experiments, reading, graphing, singing, dancing, painting, drawing, running, skipping, playdohing(my made up word), building, making, bird watching, butterfly egg hatching, frog life cycles, appreciating our parents, sharing, planting, having pet hospitals and doctor offices, learning terminology about magnets attracting and repelling, math, science, history, literacy, forming letters, forming numbers, forming shapes, rhyming, adding and subtracting, nursery rhymes, flannel stories, and so much more.  Anything I taught them, they were eager and ready to learn.  Some of your kiddos may have given you in depth stories about our days together and some may not have said a word. 

We all have expectations of how a child should learn or what they should learn and when they should learn it.  Just remember that these future scientists, doctors, teachers, engineers, moms, dads, gardeners, bakers, baseball and football players, dancers, etc.  are all special and have been given gifts that are unique to each of them.  Foster the love of learning by reading to them this summer and spending time in nature, at the pool or at home cuddling and watching a movie.  Enjoy each day this summer and I hope your summer is filled with fun. 

I can't wait to see them down the hallway and give them each a hug in August!

Week Ending April 6, 2018

Still wishing for warm weather!!! Monday-We introduced our "S"ushi "S"hop, played with "S"lime, read the S book, introduced Handwriting Without Tears letter S, painted umbrellas and learned some new vocabulary with our In The Kitchen Literacy Curriculum. Wednesday-We learned about letter S and the formation of the letter, played an ice cream sharing game after we read-   Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems, and    played on the playground (finally). Friday-We celebrated Emory's birthday, talked about Mat Man and placement of our self portraits, had an option of sharing our scales or keeping one color for our Rainbow Fish, read Rainbow Fish and the Z book and worked on letter Z letter formation as well as a petting "Zoo". Mom's Day is coming up and I will let you know the date as soon as I am told. The letters next week are X and T.  Your child can bring show in tell for either letter or both. Week Ending March 16, 2018

Spring is almost here!!! Monday -Read and Romp was a blast.  I'm sure the kiddos came home telling you their favorite stories and activities from the day.  Mine was the Tiger book and tail chase. Wednesday -We talked about the Life Cycle of a Butterfly, read our letter Q book, and read The Very Hungry Caterpillar .  We made butterflies and used our fine-motor skills to dab, squeeze, scrunch, and pinch our paper butterfly. Friday -We finished up the Life Cycle of a Butterfly with sequencing-first, second, third, last.  We made bird nests, read   The Best Nest , talked about birds and their life cycle. We used our binoculars and went on a bird hunt/watch. We had a great week! Have a wonderful weekend and Spring Break!   Letter after Spring Break is Y. We will be having a small Easter Party on March 28th directly after recess at 10:45 until pick up.  We will have an egg hunt outside(weather permitting).  I was hoping each child would bring 10 toy- filled Easter eggs by M

Week Ending Feb. 23, 2018

Your kids are growing so quickly!  What a blessing it is to see them engaged and learning! Monday-we learned about the letter C, read our C book and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake .  We made leprechaun hats for our Read and Romp banner and learned about opposites with our  stuffed cat. We also worked on letter formation with dry erase boards so we can erase and try  over and over again. Wednesday-we traced our heart sheet, practiced writing our names,  had a cookie shop where we served pretend cookies and cinnamon rolls to learn  about our hard c and soft c letter sounds, and practiced our numbers with paint and our fingers. Have a wonderful weekend! Initially our sheet says we will review the letters from this month but since the children know them so well,  we will review previous letters taught before January. We will review the letters E(Monday), F(Wednesday) and G(Friday). Should be fun to find your letter for  show and tell based on your day. ;)
